Our connection to East African botanicals is part of how Koro Gaia began, but being natural is not enough reason for an ingredient to enter a formula.
We are interested in what an ingredient contains, what it contributes and what works well beside it. That means pairing selected botanical extracts with researched actives and supporting ingredients when the combination makes sense for the skin.
Heritage gives us somewhere interesting to look. Formulation determines what makes it into the bottle.

Koro Gaia began with a habit of reading ingredient lists and asking better questions about the products we were expected to trust.
That curiosity eventually became formulation.
Today, our skincare is developed and manufactured in Nairobi. Working this close to the product allows us to think about the formula from the first ingredient decision through to the texture, filling and finished bottle.
For us, Made in Kenya is not simply where the product comes from. It is part of the standard we are building.

We use glass bottles, fabric labels and recycled paper where appropriate, work with small-scale suppliers for selected East African botanicals and continue looking for practical ways to reduce waste within our manufacturing and fulfilment process.
